I realize this is a food blog. I really do. I know you probably aren’t overly interested in 10,000 photos of someone playing the bass guitar, or what my feet looked like after a day of walking around in absolute dirt, or photos where you can’t even see who’s playing because I was literally two miles away from the stage.
That said, music is and always has been a huge part of my life. Matt and I have taken one vacation that didn’t involve music in the two years we’ve been together, and that was for a wedding. We typically see at least one concert a month, with more in the summer. I’ve seen somewhere in the ballpark of 100 concerts. Matt has seen even more.
It’s what we do.
So I hope you don’t mind when I post about the occasional concert and festival. Food is usually the last thing on my mind when I’m there, but I hope you enjoy a peek every so often into that part of my life!
I wish I would have started this blog earlier, to document the amazing musical adventures I’ve been on in the last few years, but here is a look back at a few shows I’ve blogged in the past year:
- Recap of music trips in Summer 2010
- Recap of the best live music of 2010
- The Avett Brothers with Grace Potter, 09/2010 (no photos)
- Roger Waters performs The Wall, 11/2010
- Dave Matthews Band in Charlottesville, 11/2010
- Yonder Mountain String Band at the Pageant, NYE 2010
- Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at the Pageant, 1/2011
- Umphrey’s McGee in Nashville, 02/2011
- Summercamp Festival, 05/2011
- Umphrey’s McGee in Indianapolis, 06/2011
As for today, we arrived home this afternoon after a short trip to Chicago for a one-day-visit to the Dave Matthews Band Caravan.
This was the only DMB show I had slated for 2011 (I saw 9 in 201o and 11 in 2009, if that tells you anything about my typical touring schedule), so I had to make it a good one. Almost every DMB friend I had was there, and it certainly helped feed the addiction for one more year.
We truly had a wonderful time.
I’m dying to update you about it, but I’m also literally dying of exhaustion. And my feet hurt. And my nose is so stuffed I can’t taste food. At least I’m not smelly anymore?
So for now, explore a few of my past concert experiences, and I’ll update you on Caravan and my most recent eats ASAP.
Thanks again for reading, and for being the best readers out there.
