I’m so excited to talk about the cookies I made (and received) for this year’s Food Blogger Cookie Swap (click here to get on their email list!)! This is my second year participating and it’s always fun to figure out what would be the best recipe to make. I mean, this is a swap between food bloggers so you know that most of the boxes are going to contain creative and elaborate cookie delights!
Last year I made cherry butter cookies and they turned out OK, but this year (with the help of my new KitchenAid!), the recipe blew last year’s out of the water. The best part? It’s a family recipe that I received at my bridal shower!
Rosemary Lemon Cookies

Ingredients (32 cookies)
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp fresh rosemary
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- Sea salt
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Beat butter with electric mixer for approximately 30 seconds. Add sugar, rosemary, lemon zest, baking powder, and salt. Beat until combined. Slowly stir in flour until well-mixed. Shape into 1 inch balls, then flatten with a sugared glass bottom to 1/2 inch discs. Sprinkle with sea salt, then bake 8-9 minutes, until just brown around the edges. Cool on cookie racks.
These rosemary lemon cookies are just fantastic. Rosemary is certainly not your typical cookie ingredient but paired with lemon, it creates a flavor combination that is perfect paired with sugar. And guess what – add just a hint of sea salt on top and and you get that double pop!
The cookies I received this year were nothing short of fantastic. You could tell all three bloggers took time to choose the perfect recipe and carefully pack their dozen cookies to ship. I’ll remind you of what happened to one of my dozen cookies last year – the squirrel-at-large enjoyed 11 of 12 (to not fault of the poor blogger that made them, of course).
This year, no such cookie attack occurred and we are still munching away on thumbprint cookies (from Nothing But Delicious), thin mints (from Trippin’ with Tara), and to my surprise, a cookie that is surprisingly similar (and just as delicious) to my rosemary lemon – cardamom lemon (from Twice Charmed Gourmet)!!
